Insider Insight: Two ways to add bold colors to your home
Choose curtains that make a statement
Blue decor helps to accent the curtain color in this living room.
While many people opt for white curtains as they believe they are neutral, white may not always be the best choice. Think about the colors of your walls, furniture, area rug, and other decor in the room. You want all of the colors to flow and tie in together.
“I don’t worry about matching curtains to the walls, but I do select fabric and colors that are complimentary, often in the same color family," explains interior designer Christian Ladd, founder of Christian Ladd Interiors.
Add an accent wall to your bedroom
This accent wall uses bright, warm colors and geometrics shapes.
"A striking accent color can break up the monotony of a space — it tells everyone who visits your boudoir: 'I have an opinion,'" says Matt Ross, interior designer at Schross Haus.
"Warm, bright accent walls can enliven your bedroom and make it a space that celebrates the delight of a new day," adds Ross.
Home Spotlight: This Chicago home gets a new lease on life
This living space features plenty of bold accents.
In Chicago's Highland Park/Ravinia neighborhood, a homeowner wanted to re-energize her home. The team at Inspired Interiors transformed the first floor into a collection of functional, vibrant spaces brimming with color and bold accents.
Meet & Greet: Three questions with Staci Inspektor, co-founder of Atelier Saucier
Atelier Saucier founders Nikki Reed and Staci Inspektor.
Based in Los Angeles, Atelier Saucier is a modern tablescape brand that makes sustainable and customizable linens. It’s products are a perfect way to add a pop of color and style to your tablescape.
What’s the mission behind Atelier Saucier?
SI: Our ultimate goal for Atelier Saucier is to change what the average person thinks about using table linens as part of their daily routine. Our linens are washable, wearable + sustainable — you can lay them out for a special occasion, but are equally ideal to use when you are eating pizza on the couch on a Sunday night. We want you to pass on a paper towel or disposable napkin and reach for your linens for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
How does Atelier Saucier create its products in a sustainable way?
SI: We strive to implement sustainable fabric sourcing by hand-picking surplus, premium fabrics from the excess stock of the garment industry. We integrate eco-friendly practices into every step of our production chain as well as daily business operations. Our small batch production process ensures no excess inventory or waste. Based on the width of each fabric, we create specific cutting patterns to maximize yield and usage - our patterns tend to look like a perfectly played Tetris game, locking all of our different pattern pieces together. We also love repurposing scraps of fabric as ribbons, ties, and packaging for gifts!
What would you say separates your brand from other linens on the market?
SI: Atelier Saucier is sustainably sourced, locally-produced in Los Angeles and has personalized accessibility. We strive for greatness and thoughtfulness one linen at a time - our AS quality control process ensures that our products are made with our end consumer in-mind. Our linens are meant to be worn, used and never fussed over! We want our clients to have fun with their tabletop and add an extra element of surprise and sustainability when setting the table!
