Issue #04

Happy Saturday, and welcome to issue #04 of the Inside Look.

As we settle into 2023, interior design trends are taking a turn towards mindfulness and relaxation. More and more people are seeking to create spaces that promote a sense of calm and peace, while still reflecting their personal style.

To dig a bit deeper into mindfulness and relaxation at home, we're excited to share some trend insights from Ariel Kaye, founder and CEO of Parachute. Additionally, we'll be featuring three products that can help enhance your chill time at home.

We'll also be taking you on a tour of a kitchen that’ll make even the most reluctant home cook want to whip up a gourmet meal (or at least dish up their DoorDash in style).

Insider Insight: Ariel Kaye’s two trends for 2023

This week we caught up with Ariel Kaye, founder of Parachute, to discuss her 2023 home and decor trends.

Elevated shower routines

The trend Ariel is most excited about is the elevating of shower routines. "This trend to me is about prioritizing mindfulness and relaxation all during your everyday routine," Ariel explains. "Amplifying your routine can be done through high-quality soft towels, a gorgeous robe, or adding an energizing scent to your space."

But don't worry, you don't need to buy new products to upgrade your shower routine. "One of my favorite ways to turn a shower into a ritual is to practice gratitude for a minute or two," Ariel shares. "Life gets fast and it’s important to slow down and feel present whenever possible."

Functional, welcoming entryways

According to Kaye, "the entryway serves as your first impression for guests, so zhuzhing up this area should be a top priority this year."

Luckily, a few small touches can give this space a much-needed makeover. “I love to add small catch-alls to keep the space clean and neat. Incorporating various shapes and textures in the entryway, like a bench, also works to create a cozy environment,” says Kaye.

Meet & Greet: Three questions with 7th Avenue founder Billy Shaw

What inspired you to start 7th Avenue? What about the furniture industry made you feel like it was ripe for disruption?

BS: The inspiration from 7th Avenue came when we looked at the furniture market and were incredibly dissatisfied with the options. Most traditional furniture brands typically focus on design & aesthetics, while completely ignoring the product's functionality. This is where we saw the opportunity with 7th Avenue - to create a furniture brand and product that is not only beautiful but also functional for day-to-day life.

What key features of your sofas do customers love?

BS: Our water-repellent fabrics that are stain resistant have been a huge hit with our customers with families, pets, and young children. A close second would be the removable & machine-washable covers.

What’s the mission behind 7th Avenue?

BS: To improve the lives of our customers at home by creating products that are beautiful, yet functional.
